Home Delivered Meals

Delivery of hot lunches to individuals age 60 and over who are homebound
due to illness or disability and are unable to prepare meals.

Public funds from federal, state, and local governments cover part of the cost.
The rest is covered by contributions from recipients of the meals, concerned
individuals and groups.

Congregate Meals

Meals are available to those 60 and over. Along with delicious lunches,
some of the dining centers on the Peninsula serve up a wide range of
activities and programs, an opportunity to socialize with others.

Public funds from federal, state, and local governments cover part of the cost.
The rest is covered by contributions from recipients of the meals, concerned
individuals and groups.


Information & Assistance

PAA acts as a clearinghouse for information of interest to older adults and
their caregivers.

There is no charge for PAA's information and assistance service, that is
available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You may send an email

Care Coordination

Improving the quality of life and promoting independent living for older adults is the primary
goal of PAA. To achieve this, PAA works on behalf of clients to locate needed services
and support.

Fees based on a sliding scale.


Long Term Care

When an illness or injury makes staying at home difficult, PAA assists older
adults and their families locate and arrange for in-home care.

Fees are assessed based on a sliding scale for certain services.


Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance (VICAP)

Trained volunteers counsel elders and others on many insurance issues including
Medicare, Medigap, Long Term Care Insurance, fraud and appeals.

No charge for services. Funded from Federal and State funds. Please call.


Caregiver Support

Caregivers are provided information regarding community resources available to assist
them in the role of caregivers. Monthly caregiver support group and newsletter are also
available.

No charge. The service is available to caregivers of seniors aged 60+ regardless
of the caregiver's age.


Senior Outreach to Services (S.O.S.) Program

Seniors, living in income-based housing, are linked to the community resources they need to
remain independent. An on-site Outreach Worker arranges educational programs,
assesses residents, makes referrals, and provides follow-up.

S.O.S. services are provided free of charge to senior age 60+ living in income-based
housing.


Transportation

PAA provides transportation for elderly and disabled individuals to adult daycare centers,
medical facilities, and to other activities sponsored by PAA.

PAA is a provider of last resort, therefore if other public transportation can be utilized,
the client must use that service. There is no charge to eligible individuals for PAA
transportation services. Contributions are requested.


Medtran Volunteer Transportation Program

Program utilizes volunteer drivers to transport non-Medicaid seniors 60+ to non-emergency medical
appointments. Transportation is provided for appointments such as doctors, dentist, physical
therapy, pickup prescriptions, dialysis, etc. Program operates five days a week 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday through Friday. Volunteers Drivers are always needed.

The MedTran transportation service is provided to eligible seniors 60+ at no charge.
